How's he do it?

I'm not sure how Nathan does it, but he is a magnet for dirt and water. Never fail, he's either filthy or wet most days.

When we went to our friends for a birthday party last month I had asked if there was any water outside. They told me no. Well a little bit later Chris came in to tell me that Nathan had found water. They had some post holes that they had thought were all covered up. Nathan found the one not covered up and ended up playing in it.

Then yesterday when I picked him up from daycare, this is what he looked like:

The pictures really don't do him justice. His shirt was just filthy. I'm not sure what he did!

I'm really not sure how he does it but he is a mess. My little mess magnet!!

Addicted!!

Well it's happened. I'm not sure how it's happened, but it has. I've become one of "those" people!

My name is Kristina Hepworth and I'm a Twilight-a-holic!

There it's out. It didn't take long either. I just got the first book yesterday, I'm not even done yet, but I can't put it down. I'm addicted that's for sure!
When I started reading I thought, "ok, not bad, not sure what the fuss is all about" but the more I've read I just can't get enough! I'm so intrigued by the story line, the characters, everything. I might even say I have a little crush on Edward, I can't seem to help myself. Please don't tell Chris, he'll make fun of me for having a crush on a fictional character. I've never had a crush on a character from a book before, what's wrong with me. Let's just keep this to ourselves!
I don't know how people have done it, having to wait for months for the next installment to come out. I know when I'm finished with this one, I can go to my neighbors and borrow the next. No waiting (unless she's not home, don't know what I'll do if that happens!) And how do you function and do other things. I took the book with me to work. I worked, but wasn't really productive. I may need to get a baby sitter and house keeper while I read these books just to keep my house in order and the kids taken care of.
So, I'm addicted to the Twilight books, just started them but can't put them down. Dang Stefenie Meyer for writing a good story and dang me for giving into the temptation to read them!!!

Anyone know a support group I can join? I may need it!

I'm cheap!

I'll admit it, I'm cheap.

The last time I took Nathan in to get his haircut I watched what she did to cut his hair and it didn't look too difficult. I've got clippers and scissors, so I decided that this time instead of taking him to get his haircut, I could do it myself. Couldn't be that hard right?

I don't have any great pictures of the new haircut, he didn't want me take his picture for some reason. It turned out pretty good for a first try. Better then if he'd tried to do it himself. :) I did make a few mistakes, I'll do better next time!
If you want to check out before pictures, the ones in the previous post where he's wearing the green shirt were taken earlier in the day.

Our "Bug" Nathan

Our nickname for Nathan is "Bug" and he's been a little cheesy lately...

Sweet Baby Audrey...

I wish this wasn't fuzzy or so dark, but it's still a cute picture of Audrey smiling.
Big grins are being given.
I went to get Audrey a bottle and this is how I found her when I came back. Sleeping peacefully.

Silly kid...

I don't know if I've mentioned it before, or you may have noticed, but Nathan is one silly kid. He's always doing stuff that makes Chris and I laugh. Here are a few pictures of some of the silliness around our house.
This was taken right after my friend Challise stopped by to drop off the bow she made for Audrey's blessing with a few others. Nathan HAD to wear it. So I let him, but I had to take a picture. You never know when this might come in handy someday.
Chris had just taught Nathan to say "Cheese" when the camera was pointed in his direction. Luckily his mouth wasn't full of food.
Nathan found this hat last night. As you can see, it's too small for him. That's because again it's not for him, it's Audrey's. I kept trying to get him to take it off an he kept putting it back on. He's just one silly kid!

Cookies trouble...

So on Thursday this week our Relief Society had it's annual picnic. We were to bring a favorite side dish to share with everyone. I decided to make a favorite cookie of mine...Pineapple cookies. YUM! My mom used to make them when I was growing up and has always been a favorite of mine. A nice soft cookie.
Right before leaving to come back home from the picnic my neighbor from across the street, Annabelle, tried the cookies and asked if I had made them. I told her I had. She said, "You've been my neighbor for how long and haven't ever brought me these!!!" I was in trouble. Then this morning as we were leaving the house Annabelle's husband Neil said he'd heard about the cookies and I needed to bring some over.
Actually I had thought of making them before, that's why I had all the ingredients on hand, but wasn't sure if they'd like them. I know most people like chocolate chip so that's what I usually take if I do make cookies. So I guess that I should have made them before hand and given them to my neighbor. I'll be making another batch and taking them over to them in the next couple of days.
We'll I've decided that before I get in trouble again, I'll just share the recipe with all my friends in the blogging world. Please don't be upset if I haven't made them before for you or shared the recipe. I'm sorry! I really am! You can now make some, or if you'd like me to bring you sometime let me know and I'll see what I can do.

Here's the recipe for those who'd like to try them out sometime:

Pineapple cookies

1 c. soft shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 egg
1 can (9 oz.) crushed pineapple w/juice
1 tsp baking soda
3 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/2 c. chopped nuts (optional)

Mix together shortening, sugar and eggs. Add pineapple w/juice. In a separate bowl mix together dry ingredients except nuts. Add to pineapple mixture. Mix in nuts. Chill 1 hour.
Place in rounded teaspoonfuls onto lightly greased cookie sheet.
Bake at 400 degrees 8-10 minutes or until no imprint is made when lightly touched.

and Audrey too!!

I figure I should post a few pics of Audrey so you can see how big she's getting. At her 2 month appointment she was 10 lbs and 22 1/2 inches long. That's almost 4 lbs since she was born and 2 1/2 inches! Wow!!

Chocolate!

I don't know if I've mentioned it, but Nathan LOVES chocolate.

Well last night I found a box mix for some Chocolate Chip Muffins that I'd bought a couple months ago and decided to make them this morning. We'll after we'd ate our fill, I set the extra ones aside to cool. Nathan had been going in and out to the back yard and I was in the living room and when I heard him in the kitchen. Well we found out Nathan can get up onto the bar stools by himself when I found him eating some of the left over muffins. He had eaten part of 3 of the left over ones. He was shoving in as much as he could get!

Here's some pictures of his mess.

From the looks of these pictures, I'd say he really enjoyed himself.

Picnic anyone...

Sorry I didn't get this posted earlier. I was lazy and didn't download the pics until today.

Last Saturday we had a picnic for my work. It was really a lot of fun. They had more stuff there to do then we usually do. I didn't get a lot of pictures. Here's what I took.

A picture of Nathan, he's ready to go.

They had some people doing face painting and making balloon animals, hats, etc. Nathan didn't get his face painted, but did get a balloon made.
Here are Chris and Nathan waiting in line for a balloon.
Almost Nathan's turn!
Yeah, Nathan got his own fishing pole and has already caught a fish. He was very proud of his balloon.
They also had some of the airblown slides and bouncers for the kids (and Adults). Nathan LOVED the big slide. Here he is with dad!

I love that I caught this picture as they got to the end. What cute boys!
Unfortunately I didn't get any pictures of Audrey this day.
It was probably the best summer picnic that they've ever thrown. They also gave away prizes for the kids and employees. Unfortunately Nathan didn't win, but I did get $50 to Target. I think we're gonna put it towards getting a Wii one of these days. We'll see.

A story to tell...

Actually 2 stories.

Some of you may find this funny, some may sympathize, maybe both...I am well, not laughing yet but probably will someday.

First, last Wednesday Audrey to her 2 month check up and took Nathan with us. Being a nice mommy I let Nathan push the elevator button, not such a good idea. We made it through Audrey's appointment with him only hitting the call button in the room once and only trying to escape once out of the room (thank you monkey leash backpack thingy) only to have him throw himself on the floor as I'm trying to get him out of the waiting room area to leave. Luckily when I turned the corner he freaked out and followed ran to find me. He did this once more until we got to the elevator again.

Since I had already let him push the button once he wanted to do it again, once in the elevator he then wanted to hit every button there. (I don't have enough hands!) We'll we made it out of the elevator to only have a major meltdown.

Nathan threw himself onto the floor as soon as we walked out of the elevator and was screaming at the top of his lungs. The receptionist even felt sorry for me and asked if she could help (picture me carrying a car seat, holding onto my child's "leash" and trying to drag him, yes literally drag him out which isn't really working). I told her no and just kept pulling. Finally I put the car seat down outside, walked back into the lobby grabbed Nathan and took him outside. Where he again threw himself onto the ground. I am not sure how I did it, but I finally got Nathan to the car. Total time to get him there, at least 10-15 minutes. Not a super long time, but when people are walking by and staring, it sure seems like a long time.

Then last night at 8:30 I had to send Chris to the store to rent a carpet cleaner. Here's what happened:

Chris was out mowing the lawn and I was inside watching the TV and the kids (obviously not well enough though).

I had just gotten a bottle ready for Audrey and had sat down on the couch and started feeding her when Nathan starts saying something about being "poopy". I look over at him and he has his diaper and shorts off one leg and they're hanging of the other. I started freaking out and yelling at him to stop what he's doing and all he can say is that he's poopy and is whining about it.

Well I quickly set Audrey down, grabbed Nathan and took off the diaper and sent him to grab a clean diaper. He was not happy with me at this point for yelling at him and ran to his room (picture naked bum). Then I noticed something on the carpet, sometime along the way Nathan had stepped in said "poopy" and I now had a trail of it down the hallway and into his room. YUCK! Luckily he had taken off his shoe as soon as he walked into his room and so it's wasn't tracked any further.

So I got a new diaper on Nathan, set him on the couch with the instructions "do not get off" which he didn't, I think he knew I wasn't at all happy with him, and went outside to send Chris for the cleaner and proceeded to clean the living room, hallway and bedroom carpets before sending Nathan off to bed. (In case anyone was worried, I also finished feeding Audrey).

After Nathan was in bed I had a heart to heart with Audrey and asked her to promise me to never trail poop through my house, she not knowing any better has agreed to this promise.

So what I have learned from these stories...I don't have a lot of patience with my child, and twice in a weeks time wanted to give my lovely son away! I haven't yet, but if you see a "for sale" sign around Nathan's neck, you'll know he pulled some other shenanegans and has tested my patience once again! Of course Grandma and Grandpa Johnson may get a call one of these days and I may send him up to them in Idaho!!!
