He's Three!

Nathan had his third birthday on March 17th. We decided to have his birthday party on the 21st, but still wanted to do something special on his birthday. The whole family got new St. Patrick's Day shirts (sorry didn't think to get any pics) and for dinner I made Nathan's favorites hotdogs and mac and cheese(homemade too!). And my mom who was down for the week made up some green jello with fruit for some green with the meal. Nathan didn't eat much of it, but it was still a fun meal to celebrate Nathan's special day. We sang Happy Birthday to him and gave him some birthday spanks...twice. (He wanted more after the first set, go figure). Silly kid.

For Nathan's birthday party last Saturday I decided to do a dinosaur theme, which Nathan was VERY excited about. He would tell everyone about it if you asked him about his birthday.
I found instructions for a really cute, really easy dinosaur cake that used 2-9 inch cakes, and frosting and chocolate for the decorations. Here's how it turned out.
I then found instructions on taking regular helium balloons and a little paint and turn them into dinosaur faces.I was even able to find some cute little windup dinosaurs.
We did some coloring.
And opened some presents.Audrey even had fun with the wrapping paper.Nathan got some fun dinosaur stuff.Audrey watching the fun. When we got to cake time and singing Happy Birthday to Nathan he got a little shy.But he knows what to do with the candles. Here he is blowing them out.
Nathan had a great birthday party and lots of fun with his family and friends.
Thanks to everyone who came and gave Nathan gifts.

P.S. I made this cute towel for Nathan's birthday, but he wouldn't model it for me that day, on his next bath he was much more willing.
...and another project is complete!

Do you think I've learned my lesson?...We'll see!

So about a month ago, I stuck Nathan in the bath and walked out to take care of some things. This usually isn't a problem, we check on him every few minutes and since he's so loud can usually tell what he's up to. Well I walked in after a few minutes and he had flooded the bathroom. I guess it wasn't technically "flooded", but the bath tub was empty and the floor was covered in water.
You see we have a couple of plastic cups that we use in the bathroom to pour over him to help rinse off and normally we are okay leaving them in there, but this night he had used one of these cups to dump all of the water out of the tub.
So after pulling Nathan out of the bath and getting him all cleaned up and then cleaning up the bathroom, Chris and I decided we wouldn't be leaving those cups in the bath tub any more while Nathan's in there.
And then what do I do...I forgot!
Then Wednesday night I put Nathan in the bath and Audrey followed behind to check things out. She likes to stand at the edge of the bath and watch Nathan playing (and hoping that I'll throw her in too since she LOVES the water). Not thinking, I left the cup in the bath and walked out. A few minutes later I hear Audrey crying and go to see what's up and she is drenched from head to toe and I find Nathan dumping water on the edge of the bath so that half goes back in and half goes back out.
Needless to say, I pulled Nathan out and dried him off. Cleaned up the mess in the bathroom (that I will take most of the blame for) and got Audrey out of her wet clothes and into the bath.
I am hoping I have learned my lesson this time and will be sure to take the cup out of the bath in the future. I really hate cleaning up messes in there. Dang mom-nesia has hit again! I am hoping not to go for a third try to finally learn this lesson.

P.S. Mom....stop laughing already!

Still lookin' good after all these years!

When I was up in Idaho a couple weeks ago I picked up a few things from my childhood that my mom had run into. A Raggedy Ann doll that I think I got when I was 5, some books...Alice in Wonderland, The Wizard of Oz, etc... a doll blanket, and an old dress....
No I actually didn't wear this dress when I was little, but my sister did. It's a little big on Audrey, but still oh, so cute! And she'll be able to grow into it. And if I had a picture of my sister wearing it, believe me it would be posted right next to Audrey's, but no such luck. Of course if I ever run across one it might show up here so you can see how cute my sister was when she wore it...way back when!
