Yummy cake...

I guess today is kind of a catch up day. Here's another post of what's been going on. This doesn't quite get me caught up, but definitely closer.

Anyway, Chris' birthday was June 23rd and he LOVES lemon. I found a yummy looking, simple recipe in my Kraft food and family magazine and decided to give it a try.
It's a winner for sure!!!
Here's how you make it:

Easy Lemon Cake
I box lemon cake mix
2 small boxes instant lemon pudding mix
1 1/2 cups cold milk
1 small container whipped topping

Make the lemon cakes as directed on the box for two 8 or 9 inch round cakes. Set aside and let cool. Once the cakes are cooled you are ready to finish putting it all together. Mix the pudding mix and milk together with a whisk. Stir about 2 minutes or all combined, it will get pretty thick. Divide the pudding and put half on the top of each cake round, spread evenly. Stack the cakes and then frost the whole thing with the whipped topping. Refrigerate...or eat! YUM!!

It's so light and tasty. I was afraid it would be too lemony, but it had just the right out amount of lemon. I would call this a great refreshing summer cake myself.

Sorry, we did eat it all. It was too good not to, but I promise if you decide to make one it is SOOO easy!!

Enjoy!

You want your nails painted too? OK!!

So on Saturday I decided to paint my nails, well Nathan couldn't be left out. I planned on only painted the nails of his big toes. He wasn't having that, he kept picking out different colors he wanted and here you have the end results.
He even had to have some of my nail stickers.

Oh and he also wanted his fingers painted. I drew the line at the toes! :)

Finished projects...finally!!

I have finally finished another project...or two! Here they are....

Some pretty ripple afghans! I got the pattern here. I decided before Christmas 2007 that I wanted to try to make an afghan...or two...
I actually finished the blue/green a year ago January and the brown one a month or two later, can't remember exactly. These were to be given as Christmas presents this last year. They were, just a little bit late... :) One of them went to my mother in law and the other to my grandmother in law.

The purple/seafoam one I started right after I had Audrey and hoped to get it done as a Christmas gift also. I actually ran out of the seafoam yarn right before Christmas and couldn't find any anywhere. Finally right before Christmas I did find some, but didn't get it done in time as a gift. I actually got the crocheting all done a little before Mother's day and hoped to give it to my mom when she came to visit for Nathan's birthday. We'll I didn't get the ends all woven in on time and she didn't get it until a week ago when she came for a short visit. I'm pretty proud of these afghans. They turned out pretty nice and I love how they all look so different with each color choice.

I am not in the search of a new pattern to try. I am a little burnt out with the ripple for now, although I may go back to it later since it is such a pretty project.

YAY! More projects complete!! I still have plenty more to finish or at least work on this year. I am hoping to get to some more this weekend...we'll see :) I'll keep ya'll posted!!

Last friday, June 19th, we went to our wards Annual Camp out and had lots and lots of fun. We weren't sure how the kids would do sleeping in a tent overnight, but overall it was a great time and the kids did much better then we expected.

Nathan loved being outside and able to run and play in the wilderness. He would run and play and if he was out of sight and we yelled for him he would promptly come a runnin'. Such a good kid.

Audrey enjoyed being outside too.
She had fun with some of her friends and loved checking everything out.

Here are some pictures from the night and early the next morning. Sorry there are so many...believe me there were many more that I took and didn't include.

Nathan giving Daddy some loves.

Audrey wearing Daddy's hat. She loved it and spent the rest of the evening trying to steal it back. We might have to get her a hat like this that's all her's.
Audrey and her cute friend Talitha.
The next pictures are of some of our friends and the fun we had...

We had a yummy BBQ Friday night and then some yummy breakfast the next morning. Here's some of our friends filling up their plates.
This is the little Andrew in his 'action' shot...such a handsome little boy!
The bishop...he's wearing his wife's pink Diet Coke hat.
Brian and Peyson working on a potato car for the potato derby.
The Meyers, who's gonna carve the fastest car?
This is Scott...being Scott. He's a funny one for sure!
Betsy gettin' ready to roast some marshmallows.
After a fun night we got all worn out. Audrey zonked!
Nathan in his camping sleep gear. Yes I did pick it out. Isn't it a lovely outfit?!
On the way home, all worn out...
Audrey...
and Nathan too!
We had so much fun! We'll definitely be camping some more this summer.

A visit with the animals...

2 weekends ago we decided to head over to the zoo. We got a season pass the last time we went and want to put it to good use this year. Boy was it a fun outing, and the day was actually pretty nice with only a short interuption of rain, luckily it was during the elephant show so we stayed dry while we learned about the elephants.

Here are some pictures of our fun day with the animals...

Getting ready to see something exciting.
We found the tiger...taking a morning nap.
Some of the giraffe's.
Nathan figured out a great way to see over the fences...
use the stroller as a step stool.
Audrey and Daddy checking out the elephant.
Nathan playing in the little kids park at the Zoo.

The same day we visited the zoo we also took a trip up the canyon and stopped to take some pictures at the Provo River Falls. It was beautiful...plus I had to try out my new camera I got a couple weeks ago and see what kind of pictures I could take :)
I just love living so close to the mountains and being able to get out with my beautiful family and enjoy them.

Hey Hey Hey!!

My mom, sister and I had an awesome girls night out last Friday! We went and saw Ryan Shupe and the Rubberband at the Sandy Ampitheater and it was so much fun! The following video was taken at the concert, they are really a fun band to watch and their music is fun and really catchy and it just makes you want to get up and dance! I highly recommend them. I hope that I can make it to their concert again next year! Maybe even their Christmas one...that would be fun too!

Enjoy!!

If you want to hear more of their music, check out their website and select Jukebox! You can listen to all their albums!
